Beginner Firearm Types and Course Descriptions

 

Lorco Shooting Academy offers beginner courses tailored to specific firearm types. Each course provides practical, safety-focused instruction to help new shooters build confidence and capability with various firearm platforms.

 

RIFLE for Beginners

 

  • Bolt Action Rifles - Learn how to safely operate and maintain bolt-action rifles — focusing on precision shooting fundamentals, manual cycling, and marksmanship discipline.

  • Lever Action Rifles - Understand the function and safe handling of lever-action rifles, including loading, chambering, and clearing rounds using lever-operated mechanisms.

HANDGUN for Beginners

  • Semi-Automatic Handguns​ - Get introduced to the core components and functions of semi-automatic pistols — including magazine loading, slide manipulation, sight alignment, and recoil control.​

  • Revolvers​ - Explore the operation of both single and double-action revolvers, learning how to load, index chambers, and manage firing in a controlled, safe manner. 

 

ADVANCED TRAINING COURSES

 

At Lorco Shooting Academy, we offer two progressive courses designed for shooters seeking to refine their skills, build technical capability, and operate with confidence under pressure.

 

Practical Pistol (Intermediate)

 

This course is tailored for the general shooter aiming to build a strong foundation in firearm handling and marksmanship.

 

Participants will develop practical skills

 

  • Correct stance, grip, and sight alignment

  • Trigger control and manipulation

  • Reloading techniques

  • Breathing control and eye dominance

  • Basic malfunction clearances and corrective actions

 

Whether you're training for IPSC competition or personal growth, this course equips you with the confidence and competence to safely and effectively manipulate your pistol at a high standard.

 

Advanced Pistol (Advanced)

 

This high-level course is designed for experienced shooters who are ready to take their pistol handling to the next tier of speed, efficiency, and precision.

  • Rapid fire and reload drills (tactical, speed, emergency)

  • Immediate action responses and malfunction recovery

  • Target transitions and advanced positional shooting

  • Draw, holster, and engagement under time constraints

  • Recoil management, fast target acquisition, and more

 

This course is built to challenge your reflexes, sharpen your technique, and instil absolute confidence in your weapon manipulation.

 

Note: Completion of the Practical Pistol course is a prerequisite.

  • Firearms Provided - All students have access to firearms for training. If you prefer to use your own, please contact us prior to your course to discuss.

  • Ammunition Included - Each course includes an ammunition allowance. Additional rounds are available for purchase at competitive rates.
